Very well. Price-performance

I went here with a friend to try the traditional Bergische Kaffeetafel (like a local version of high tea) which is a very interesting meal anyone should try if in the area. This meal kind of works in opposite order than most traditions as you start of with a sweet dessert, in this case a waffle with milk rice. This is followed by raisin bread with quark and marmalade. Then the oddest course of a slice of dark rye bread with butter and a slice of pound cake on top! It sounds bizarre but is actually quite good, if unusual. Followed by rye bread with a selection of cheeses and meats, and finally a hard baked pretzel and a type of biscuit bread similar to a biscotti. There was plenty of food and we ended up taking the pretzel and biscuit home with us as it was too much to finish. The food was good and very interesting. Service, however, needs some serious improvements! Staff was slow, ignored us for a good fifteen minutes while serving others, then being quite short and snippy with us. Whether this was due to my tattoos and bright hair, or just the general attitude, I don't know. But I can say that I definitely wasn't made feel welcome and would have left if my friend hadn't had her heart set on trying this local speciality.

Were there today: The hunter schnitzel was big and good. The salad and the fries were good too. The service is friendly. The waffles were good too. Recommendable.

Honestly it was the worst meal I have eaten in 2 years. SNAPS OF ANY kind cannot be enjoyed. I actually thought you can't go wrong, but to err is human.

Breakfast was good and plentiful. Everything fresh and delicious. The service friendly and attentive. The coffee from the Dröppelminna is really good. We will come back !

Very tasty Bergische waffles in multiple variations 🤗👍🏻 Value for money is also good. There were three of us, everyone had a drink and waffle for a total of € 19.50. The nostalgic pictures and photos complete a thoroughly pleasant experience. We had a great view of the castle from the table. Service is friendly and brisk. Only, it seems a little uncomfortable when the first plates are cleared while the others are still eating 😳 WC: clean, but not barrier-free. Parking: right next to the café for € 1.60 per hour or part thereof

A short break with hot cocoa and a waffle with hot cherries and vanilla ice cream. Very good.

Great Bergische coffee bar

Very nice cafe directly across from castle castle. Super delicious cafe (there is still freshly brewed filter cafe and not the Cafe Crema Gesöff). The service is extremely friendly and helpful and also explains the historical roots of the Bergische Kaffeetafel with a lot of specialist knowledge. The coffee from the Dröppelminna is an experience, the waffles are delicious! Absolute recommendation !!!

Very friendly and brisk service. We were with 17 people. Everyone very quickly had a delicious meal at reasonable prices. Thank you! Gladly again.

Great food

Café Restaurant Kalkumer has wonderful cakes (apple pie and raspberry cake). Very attentive, firm and friendly service. We were an unannounced group - no problem at all. In beautiful weather on 21. 9. We could outside (through the restaurant) to enjoy a wonderful afternoon!

Pea soup was good. The service was great and very helpful.

The baked Camembert for 8.60 was underground. (Aldi 1,99 € ???) The baked potato with chicken was okay. The ambiance had its best times many moons ago. The service very nice and fast on the way.

We had the Bergisches Kaffeetafel, very nicely done and really delicious. You should also try the waffles there, delicious. Service very friendly and nice ..... everything was very comfortable.
